One of the problems I discovered with using treats to train dogs, is that I lost connection with the dog. A leash is an extension of my arm, and a communication line with my dog. For my family protection dogs, leash acclimation and training begins at 6 weeks old. It is the foundation for all later Family Protection training. Don't create cookie monsters! Learn to use a leash and to communicate with your animal = step one in family protection dog training.
